Grayling Independence Day Festivities

Fireworks for the community of Grayling and surrounding areas will be taking place on July 5, 2022 at dusk, launched from the grounds of Grayling Country Club. The fireworks took a herculean effort to execute this year, and were incredibly close to being canceled altogether.
The Grayling Youth Booster’s Club spent many years putting the firework display together in the past. Recently, the Grayling Promotional Association graciously stepped up to the plate to take over organizing the event for the past 3 years to ensure the beloved community event continued to take place. When approaching this year’s contract, the Grayling Promotional Association received word from the vendor that they couldn’t staff the event or provide fireworks because of supply chain and staffing issues. Grayling Promotional Association along with other local organizations, including staff from the City of Grayling, Grayling Department of Public Safety, Grayling Regional Chamber of Commerce and Grayling Main Street, worked together to plan and execute additional options like alternative dates and locations, pursuing multiple companies and independent contractors, even reaching out to Camp Grayling. In the 11th hour, a reply from Jeff’s Fireworks out of Cadillac solved the issue.
Community members are also encouraged to celebrate Independence Day by joining the Grayling VFW on Monday, July 4 at 11 am for their annual parade. To be a part of the parade, please call 989-390-6249. You can also pick up a registration form at the Grayling Regional Chamber of Commerce.
