I see a bunch of people looking up fireworks in Ann Arbor tonight – just FYI, those are the Barton Hills Fireworks and they’re private, so I didn’t list ‘em. Yea, they’re shaking my house too. Ann Arbor doesn’t have a community display.

Check out the fireworks at Lakeshore Apartments in Ypsilanti – they are just part of the family fun this week-end – carnival runs thru Monday!
Yeah, I'm not sure why Ann Arbor does not have any fireworks display…Any ideas?
Well they were at Buhr Park when I was growing up, and I think the people who lived around there got tired of them – they got too big. Then they were out at the airport a couple years, and that was a mess. I don't even think it's money so much here as nobody wants to deal with the logistics; the traffic, the personnel on overtime, cleaning up the mess, the insurance, blah blah blah.
With all the money floating around Ann Arbor its crazy we dont have FIREWORKS here!!!! Come on A2 buck up.
The Ann Arbor JayCees, I believe, were the promoters of the fireworks. Due to massive loss in sponsorship (remember Pfizer), the fireworks displays were cancelled. Amazing places like Whitmore, Chealsea, and Manchester can put on beautiful displays with kid and adult friendly festivals, and the large city of Ann Arbor leaves us hanging on the Forth! Check small towns around us, the above mentioned, and you will be suprised by what you get for a short drive and maybe a tiny parking fee. Pack up the family and have fun!
